PARAGOULD, Ark. — Special Agents with the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are investigating an officer-involved shooting fatality that occurred around 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the Jonesboro Police Department issued an alert to law enforcement to be on the lookout (BOLO) for a subject wanted for a residential burglary in their city. The subject of the BOLO was identified as Kyle Davis, 32, of Paragould, who was believed to be driving a silver Chevrolet pickup truck.
Shortly before 5 p.m., a Paragould Police officer encountered Davis on the Greene County Tech High School campus, and Davis fled.
ASP Troopers intercepted Davis’ vehicle on Jones Road, continuing the pursuit onto State Highway 69, east onto U.S Highway 412, and eventually north on Greene County Road 808. Troopers performed a successful tactical vehicle intervention to end the pursuit. Davis exited his vehicle, brandishing a shotgun and an ax, advancing toward officers. Officers fired on Davis, fatally wounding him.
Three Greene County deputies, one Paragould Police officer, and an ASP Trooper were involved in the incident.
The deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for a determination of the manner and cause of death.
Special agents with ASP CID will prepare an investigative file to be submitted to the Greene County prosecuting attorney, who will determine whether the use of deadly force by the officers was consistent with Arkansas laws.
