Arkansas State Police Corporal Chase Melder was promoted today to the rank of sergeant.  The Arkansas State Police Commission received and approved the recommendation for promotion from Colonel Bill Bryant, director of the state police, a division of the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

  Sergeant Melder, 37, of Pope County, will assume new duties in Highway Patrol Division, Troop J, as a post supervisor.

  Sergeant Melder is a 13 year veteran of the Division of Arkansas State Police.
