Arkansas State Police (ASP) and the U.S. Marshals Service, Eastern District of Arkansas, will hold a media briefing at 1:30 p.m. today, July 26, 2024, at ASP Headquarters in Little Rock to discuss yesterday’s DeValls Bluff standoff, where a suspect exchanged gunfire with members of the ASP SWAT team, resulting in his death.
On hand to address the media and provide more information will be:
• Col. Mike Hagar, Director, Arkansas State Police
• Jonathan Ross, U.S. Attorney, Eastern District of Arkansas
• Cory Harris, U.S. Marshal, Eastern District of Arkansas
• Kevin Sanders, U.S. Marshals Service Task Force Supervisor
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, the fugitive suspect barricaded himself inside a home on East Walnut Street in DeValls Bluff and initiated an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement, including ASP Troopers and U.S. Marshals.
The suspect was wanted on multiple felony warrants out of Little Rock, Sherwood, and Pulaski County. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the 4-hour standoff.
Media should arrive no later than 1:15 p.m. at the west wing entrance of ASP Headquarters, One State Police Plaza Drive, Little Rock.
