The recent winter storm will continue to impact Arkansas roadways in the coming days. Even on well-traveled roadways, icy patches remain, and lingering moisture will refreeze as temperatures dive overnight. Arkansas State Police (ASP) strongly advises motorists to stay home if they can.

If driving is necessary, follow these crucial safety guidelines:
• Reduce your speed significantly.
• Maintain a greater distance from other vehicles.
• Brake earlier than usual.
• Pack an emergency kit containing extra clothing, blankets, water, non-perishable food, and first aid supplies.
• Be sure to have a full tank of gas.

ASP troopers are actively assisting motorists in need. For non-emergency assistance, use *ASP (*277) to connect with the nearest ASP Troop headquarters. This four-digit speed dial feature, available on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon cellphones in Arkansas, was implemented in January 2022. Remember:
• *ASP is for non-emergency inquiries or reports only.
• For emergencies, always use 911, which takes priority over *ASP calls.
• ASP has 12 Troop headquarters across the state, each with its own dispatch center.
