On December 1, 1990, Norman Fitch was found by teenagers, beaten and unconscious, off a dirt road along Interstate 40 in Franklin County. He was transported for emergency treatment and then transferred to a nursing home in Fort Smith. He passed away on December 11, 1990, from blunt force injuries, including a depressed skull fracture, that occurred 10 days earlier.
