On the night of July 30, 1991, witnesses heard a gunshot and observed someone remove the body of Mario Ferrera Mata from a small white car and leave it on the side of Hillwood Street in Hot Springs. According to witnesses, the suspect got back in the car and drove away while another got out and ran away.
