On October 30, 1984, the body of Earl James McDaniel was discovered in a ditch along Interstate 40, 4.5 miles west of Carlisle. His body was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office where it was determined that he was murdered. His identity wasn’t known until January 2025.
