Tier Two Reporting Thresholds for Gasoline & Diesel Fuel at Retail Fuel Service Stations
If your facility is a retail fuel service station, then the Tier Two reporting thresholds for gasoline and diesel have been set at much higher levels than the Tier Two reporting thresholds for all other industries.
In order to qualify for these higher thresholds, your facility must meet all three of the following conditions:
- Your facility MUST be classified as a retail service station (SIC Code 5541 or NAICS Codes 447110 or 447190).
- All of the gasoline and diesel fuel stored at your retail service station MUST be stored in underground storage tanks.
- The underground storage tanks for the gasoline and diesel fuel MUST be in compliance with the federal Underground Storage Tank requirements (40 CFR Part 280)
If your facility meets all three of the requirements stated above, then the reporting thresholds for these two fuels will be as follows:
► 75,000 gallons for gasoline
► 100,000 gallons for diesel fuel
If one or both of these reporting thresholds are exceeded during the Calendar Year prior to the Tier Two reporting deadline, then the facility will be required to report these fuel products in an electronic Tier 2 Report.
Please note the following:
- A facility that is classified as a wholesale fuel supplier must file a Tier 2 Report with the Tier 2 Reporting Program if the facility exceeded 10,000 pounds of gasoline, diesel fuel, or other reportable fuels during the Calendar Year prior to the Tier Two reporting deadline.
- Retail service stations that store alternative fuels, such as butane, propane, kerosene, etc., in excess of 10,000 pounds during the Calendar Year preceding the Tier Two reporting deadline must report these alternative fuels to the Tier 2 Reporting Program by submitting a Tier 2 Report.
- Retail service stations that store gasoline or diesel fuel in above-ground storage tanks must apply the 10,000 pound Tier Two reporting threshold to these fuel products for purposes of filing the Tier 2 Report.
